Learn How to be Stress Free Every Day
There is much information about stress and the damaging effects it can have on your mind and body.
We don’t get stressed by situations that we have control over. Rather it comes from things that we FEEL we have no control over such as a noisy neighbour, workplace stress, a bad relationship, lack of money or illness.
Yet in reality you probably have more control over things in you life than you realise. For instance, you can complain about a noisy neighbour, change your job, end a bad relationship, earn more money or take time off to get over an illness.
Sadly there are other things in life that we do not have control over that can cause us a lot of stress. The secret to coping is to not let things get you down as much as they do. That may be harder than it sounds but it is possible.
Bad things happen to us in life just as much as good things. It’s not what happens that’s important, but how we react to it.
As an example, two women were once asked about a hypothetical situation. One woman was a pessimist and there other an optimist. Both women were given the hypothetical situation as this.
They are queuing in a bank. An armed robber comes in and fires his gun. The bullet hits them in the arm.
The pessimist said that the situation would be just typical of her bad luck. She complained that of all the people in the bank, she had to be the one to get shot. She saw the whole situation as bad.
The optimist, when given the same hypothetical situation smiled and said how fortunate she would be to only be shot in the arm. It could have been worse, she said. She could have been fatally wounded. But that, she said just proved what a lucky person she was.
See the difference?
Things happen in life. good things happen and bad things happen, and both happen to good people and bad people.
The thing to do is to learn to relax. Try a few stress management techniques. Eat well so that your body is in peak condition.
Worry about things less by forgetting the past or the future. These are two things that you have no control over. But you do, however, have control over this precise minute.
