What is the Difference Between Endermology and Liposuction?
Liposuction and Endermology are both treatments that are used to get rid of cellulite and they both involve suction. But apart from that, what is the difference between these two cellulite treatments?
Liposuction is an invasive surgery where fat is sucked out of your body just beneath the layer of cellulite.
Endermology is a non-invasive technique that uses motorized, vibrating rollers to massage your areas of cellulite. At the same time suction is used to redistribute the connective tissues to remove the dimpling.
So unlike liposuction, endermology does not involve breaking the skin and so cannot cause infections. Liposuction does, however, have the advantage of producing immediate effects whereas endermology usually needs around 15 separate treatments.
An endermology treatment lasts for about 25 minutes and one treatment is needed every week. There are also monthly follow-up treatments to help maintain the appearance of smooth skin.
Both liposuction and endermology can have side effects. Liposuction can cause pain, bruising, saggy skin and infections. Endermology, on the other hand, has minimal side effects of light bruising and some soreness, but most patients enjoy the treatment sessions so much that they consider the temporary soreness a small price to pay.
But pay they must because endermology is a cosmetic treatment and so is not usually covered by health insurance.
However, the cost of endermology treatment is very comparable to the cost of liposuction.
One session of liposuction to treat a small area will cost around $4,000USD. A course of endermology treatments will cost around $200 a session. When added to the cost of the monthly follow-up treatments, it costs around $4,000USD also.
But both liposuction and endermology treatments only produce temporary effects and without a change in lifestyle to a low-fat diet and more exercise, your cellulite problem will return.
Changing to a healthy lifestyle is the only sure way to rid yourself of cellulite forever. But liposuction and endermology treatments can help get you there faster.
